The Center’s Training and Instructional Design and Production teams are thrilled to announce that their collaborative effort, Child Welfare Documentation Training, is a Silver Davey Award winner. The training course was produced for the South Carolina Department of Social Services to improve case manager skill with this critical component of child welfare.
In order to develop a training that not only educated case managers on the importance of timely, quality documentation, but did so in a professional and creative way, the Center’s staff pushed itself to innovate. Jennifer Webb, Program Manager for Media Production, said one of the goals of the team was to “make an engaging storyline that carries through all of the training modules.” To this end, the team crafted custom illustrated characters and backgrounds to complement the instruction, providing learners with an immersive experience of a child welfare case and the documentation process from the point of view of a case manager. The Davey Awards recognize outstanding work produced by the “Creative Davids,” t hat is, small agencies “who derive their strength from big ideas.” The competition is judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), an invitation-only body of professionals from media, advertising, and marketing firms. This is the Center’s first Davey Award for online training.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this exciting and impactful project!
