Cynthia Flynn

Research Coordinator

Cynthia Flynn recently retired from full-time work at the Center for Child and Family Studies. She currently works part-time at the Center as the Research Coordinator guiding the research team in its contractual work and in seeking new opportunities for research and evaluation studies. Cynthia is an enthusiastic advocate of community-derived research—seeking research questions from our community partners to provide answers that can be immediately applied to practice and policy.

A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Cynthia earned a PhD in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She has forty-five years of experience working in human service and education programs. Cynthia has conducted research studies in the child welfare field including adoption, education of foster youth, and foster youth placement and has conducted numerous program evaluations in a variety of contexts.
