Vanessa Layton

Program Coordinator for Quality Assurance

As a Quality Assurance reviewer, Vanessa reviews randomly selected Foster Care and Family Preservation Cases for the Department of Social Services. The Quality Assurance team reviews case quality for the Department of Social Services where Vanessa is partnered with staff to review child welfare cases to ensure compliance with State and Federal guidelines.  

Vanessa began her career at the Nurturing Center in 2001, where she worked as an Early Interventionist, taught parenting classes and lead parenting groups. In 2004, she became the Teen Parent Program Coordinator.  In 2007, she began working at Richland County Department of Social Services where she was a case manager in Foster Care and Treatment cases and assisted in Intake as needed. In 2014, she worked as a Family Advocate at Vital Connections of the Midlands where she enrolled children into the Early Head Start program and worked with families to create a partnerships and family plans that addressed employment and educational needs.  

She holds a BA in Child and Family Development.

Vanessa says, “I will continue to support my community in accessing available community resources that will allow them to become empowered and self-sufficient.”
