Toni M. Jones, MSW

Research Associate
SC NYTD Project coordinator

Toni administers the federally required National Youth in Transition (NYTD) survey to youth transitioning out of foster care in South Carolina and disseminates updates and findings from the SC NYTD survey to DSS and community partners via the SC NYTD website, the SC NYTD partner newsletter, presentations at conferences, and a youth newsletter.

The SC NYTD team administers the NYTD survey to youth with foster care experience at ages 17, 19, and 21 to hear directly from youth about the independent living services they receive and how they are doing.

Toni holds a Master’s of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She previously conducted a five-year evaluation of the Columbia Housing Authority’s Hope VI neighborhood revitalization project and served as the SC project coordinator for a study of youth safety in the workplace funded by the CDC.

Toni says, “I am inspired by the resilience, determination, and courage of youth in foster care. My mission is to ensure that their voices are heard by practitioners and policy makers and used to enhance programs and inform policy affecting all youth in foster care.”
